some wine for whine

For those of you who know my son personally, you are well aware that he has this love for cheese. Blocks of cheese. Every meal he requests little cut up blocks of cheese. (Funny - as I'm typing this, he has asked for a snack of, you guessed it, blocks of cheese). Now, I love cheese myself. And I've been accused of being cheesy before. But my son has discovered something that is driving me crazy!

He likes whine with his cheese.

For the past week, it seems every word that comes out of his mouth is whiny. And if that doesn't work, he sets off a full blown screaming and crying fit. This is my calm, patient son. It's as if someone has replaced my son. He is driving me crazy. He's driving my husband crazy. He's driving my daughter crazy. Is it a full moon? A freak of nature? SOMEBODY help me!! :)

I'll be the one with the REAL wine. (And I don't even drink!)

Life can be trying. Kids whinning is just God's way of telling us, as parents, the that cute stage we fell in love with is coming to an end and another cute one is on it's way. Wait for it. It's worth it. Love ya.

OK, I don't know if this will help but it worked for me. I think almost all kids go through this whiney stage and like you, it drove me crazy.

I simply acted like I couldn't hear them. I told them my ears didn't work with whiney tones. They had to talk "right." Really, it worked for me because if they wanted me to hear them, they said it again in a normal voice and got my attention.

Take comfort in knowing that it passes.

It's good he loves cheese. I've discovered Cameron does, too. He walks up to my fridge and says, "Cheese, pease." Soooo cute.

It is a stage. That is the good news. The bad news is that adolescence is a stage that lasts longer and is even more annoying. Try a reward chart with a star for every hour with no whining and a reward for so many stars. Pray also helps. Good luck.
