I'm still overwhelmed by the devastation in Haiti. The images and stories are beyond my wildest imagination. I encourage you to give to Compassion International. They are on the ground there and working hard at bringing relief.

i'm just sayin'...
Just taking a minute to say that if one taco costs $1.99, a combo of three tacos shouldn't be $6.25. Someone needs to tell the guy who owns the restaurant we tried out on Saturday. Do the math people!
Okay, getting off my soapbox now...

top 25 movies
My husband and I were talking about movies the other day and we decided to come up with our top 10 movies. By the title of this post, you can see that I came up with a few more than that. I always have had a hard time making decisions. :) I haven't seen some of these movies in a really long time so my tastes may have changed. I think I'm going to do a couple of marathons soon to watch them all again. That is, when it gets a bit quieter around here and I don't fall fast asleep as soon as I sit down to watch a movie. Could be awhile! So, without further delay....my list of 25, in no particular order - because again, that would require making decisions and I don't do that well. :)
1. The Prince of Tides (book is even better!)
2. My Big Fat Greek Wedding (watched it last night - grew up around a Greek family and boy, have they hit the nail on the head with this one!)
3. Beaches (book is better - but I love Bette Midler in this)
4. The Wizard of Oz (to this day, I'm still scared of that green-faced witch!)
5. Mary Poppins (I love Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke - the penguin scene is my favorite)
6. The Sound of Music (the well, music of this movie is AWESOME and who wouldn't want some clothes made out of curtains?)
7. Titanic (the set of this movie was incredible - I was already a huge Titanic buff so this was a great movie for me - really sad though)
8. Wildcats (this is a movie with Goldie Hawn - she goes to an inner city school and ends up coaching the football team - haven't seen it in a while)
9. Dirty Dancing (I love the music and the idea of living in a camp setting all summer long - oh, and "nobody puts Baby in a corner" was a good line too)
10. Hope Floats (probably my most favorite of all...)
11. Big Daddy (hippo...hippo...hippo-pen-on-o-mous...)
12. Mr. Holland's Opus (great story)
13. Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks ROCKS!)
14. The Shawshank Redemption (I need to watch this one again soon...just remember loving Morgan Freeman in this)
15. Erin Brockovich (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong - the underdog wins which makes me happy)
16. A Few Good Men (the courtroom scene with Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson was priceless)
17. Always (I'm always a sucker for a good love story)
18. The Italian Job (my husband's favorite - it grew on me after the eleven-t-ith hundred time)
19. Back to the Future (again, my husband's favorite - but just the first one for me, thanks!)
20. The Pelican Brief (I need to watch this one again too - but again the underdog wins)
And then there are the Disney Pixar ones that are priceless...
21. Finding Nemo (I haven't said the word escape the right way since - ess-cop-eh)
22. Cars (if I don't have this one memorized yet, I will very soon)
23. Monsters, Inc. (my favorite thing about this one is that the kids' laughter is stronger than their screams)
24. Toy Story (I always dreamed of my toys coming to life...)
25. Toy Story 2 (add a girl to the mix and it's even better!)
So there ya have it...If anyone has any suggestions for good movies based on my picks, please feel free to leave me a comment!

look at me!
Okay, let me just confess that I LOVE M & M's. I don't like chocolate so much but something about that candy coating and a peanut or peanut butter inside with just the right amount of chocolate. Well, it's just divine! I stumbled across this website and I thought you might have fun with it. I've become an M & M!!

can't sleep
so i've been upstairs
and read my magazine
('cuz i finished my book
last night)
and turned out the light
and laid there...
and tossed...
and laid there...
can't sleep
which is enormously strange
for me
the one who sleeps
before fully turning off the light
so i thought a nice cup
of decaf tea would be nice
we are out of sugar
how can a house be out of sugar?
my mom offered me some
today
and i said no, i just made kool-aid
and there's a little bit left in the jar
the "little bit" i just scraped out
with the end of a butter knife
and my tea is still bitter
i tried stirring it
(with a colored pencil
because i'm too lazy
to go to the other side
of the room to get a spoon)
still bitter
but my mug is a cute purple
and the tea is still warm
so i've got that going for me...
maybe the more i drink,
the sweeter it will get
oh, and as i stumbled
in the dark to quietly come
downstairs
i forgot my glasses
in the dark,
the world looks the same
with or without
glasses
and i wore my contacts today
so i didn't miss them on my face
now i am sitting
a foot and a half
from the computer screen
and have to squint every few seconds
to make sure i am typing the
right letters...
but somehow the meaningless
sentences continue to flow...
i'm sorry to whoever is reading this
i usually can sleep...
and we don't have this problem...
my magazine tonight
was home companion
it's from mary engelbreit
i love, love it
reminds me of country living
but more artsy
there is a home office in there
that i would die to have
okay, not die, but
you get my drift
blues, greens, whites
ahh...
a couple of posts back
i described my perfect "me place"
(and if i just did that right,
you can click on that and
read about it)
today in the sunday ads
(the best part of the paper)
i found the table desk
it exists!
so you know what that means?
you got it, my special place
exists - and in more than just my mind
between seeing that
and the magazine,
i think my mind is on overload
of all the possibilities...
upon site of the table desk
i decided to start a file
of all the things i find
that are "it" for someday
when "it" is a reality...
unfortunately
the magazine is a library one
so i can't rip out those pages
to keep
maybe they are still selling that issue
or maybe the magazine
will sell me one
hmm...
and with all that creativity
i am so anxious to work on
this awesome, new house
and tweak it as my very own
but then there's the money thing
anybody got any ideas on
cheap (as in free) ways
to decorate in the mean time?
eww, the last drink was pure sugar!
where has that been for the
last fifteen drinks?!
okay, it's way past my bedtime
and i agreed to work
shuffling money tomorrow
besides, this post is by far the longest
i have ever written
and i'm sure you are asleep by now
at least one of us is....
