First things first - did I really say ta ta for now in my last post? Yes, yes I did. And I'm sorry about that. I guess I was just excited about finding a FREE template online!
Now that I've gotten that out of the way, how do you like my new look? I've always gravitated towards water scenes, lighthouses and darker colors because the title of my blog makes me think of those things. But what I love about this look is the different flowers. It reminded me of the many different emotions that we feel. Each one is different. My favorite part would have to be the raindrops. Because even when it rains, something is growing. I've been really learning that a lot lately.
I was waiting for someone to ask if the new, brighter template reflected that I was doing better with the whole fog thing. And it didn't take long - it was the first thing Handsome (my hubby) asked when he saw it. All I can say is that it is complicated. I have been studying about emotions and what God has to say about them. What I am learning has been a big surprise to me.
I'll be back soon to discuss what I'm learning because it might just be helpful to someone out there. Also there are New York pictures to share - because really there is nothing more riveting than pictures of other people's vacation, right?
Have a great weekend everyone!

No, you aren't at the wrong blog...I'm tired of my old design and I found this one online - free! Can you believe it? I'll be working on it for the next couple of days. I have some new stuff to link to that I really think is neat so come back and visit, okay? Ta-ta for now...

rambling, as usual
First, for all you bloggers out there, I'm trying to comment on your blogs and blogger is being a stinker. I'm here, I'm reading, and I was even going to de-lurk. Stupid blogger. At least it's free...
INTRODUCING...
My daughter had a concert to celebrate Black History month. She was excited. She told me she "had a speaking part - you know, because I speak during the play." Bless her heart. She has enough drama for an entire drama club. And her dramatic premiere consisted of the following line:
"They did not like them. They spat at them."
She informed me that spat means spit (no, really?). However, she also informed me that "I have to say spat though because that's what the script says."
And an actor (or actress, in this case) is born.
NEW WORDS
I asked my son what was his favorite color? Here is his reply:
"Red, like the different red ones. It's kinda a illusion of red."
What? Did he just say illusion? He is THREE.YEARS.OLD! Where does he get this stuff?!
SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER
I've been watching Are You Smarter than A Fifth Grader? and it's pretty good. I feel a bit redeemed because the rest of the nation is learning what I've known this whole school year. You see, my daughter is in 5th grade and some of her homework is mind-boggling to me. I feel really dumb sometimes when I'm trying to help her with her homework. Especially math. They teach them totally differently than they did when I was a kid. You don't have to get out your toes anymore. :)
Well, that's the news in my corner of the world. Take care!

please check the box
When I go into my email and see that someone has left me a comment, I'm so excited! And when their comment comes through with an email address attached, well, that just makes my day. I love replying to comments and sending a little love back to the person who took the time to give their two cents' worth.
But lately, the emails have come through with "noreply-comment(at)blogger.com." I couldn't figure out why some were identified and some weren't. Then I read this post the other day. (And she links to another post that has a cool little screen shot of what box to check to remedy the situation). They think it all has to do with a little box in your profile. I looked to see if mine was checked and it wasn't! I sure hope I didn't miss out on any friendliness.
Anyway, this post is just to make you aware (if you weren't already) about the possible fix to this. It sure would make my bloggy life easier and maybe yours too! :)

template to layout
I switched to the new blogger a few days ago and spent hours labeling all my posts. I am so giddy about the labels!! But then I wanted to add the labels to my sidebar and ran into a little problem. I couldn't figure out how to write the html code for it. In order to easily add them in the new drag-and-drop template, I had to convert my template to a layout. Whatever that means to the blogger powers that be. There were warnings all over the place about how this was going to remove a lot of the customizations that I had added. Hours and hours of work, gone. And they were right! So, I had to spend time adding some things back in. Of course, once I got started, I kept adjusting things that didn't even change when I switched. You know how addicting this tweaking can be. I also very easily added the labels to my sidebar. From now on, I should be able to easily change things since I switched.
I hope.

do not touch your dial...
no...it isn't your computer
and you don't have to click
refresh to get the updated page
i've gone back to my old template
sort of
i absolutely love the beach picture
but it made things hard to read
and since, well, this is a blog
there's a lot of reading going on
(i hope)
so every time i looked at it
i had this kind of weird feeling
like something wasn't right
and that was a problem
when i switched templates
i was able to teach myself some code
so now i'm able to make changes
to this one
like the sidebar on the other side
one of the main reasons
i made the change in the first place
was because i couldn't figure out
how to get more stuff in my sidebar
not a problem anymore
so welcome back to my lighthouse
stay for a while
(but make sure you comment!)

html
Okay
it's officially an addiction
every spare minute
this weekend
i've run back to the computer
to fiddle with the html code
in my new template
i've changed the entire profile box
(i still can't figure out why there is a black dot there)
i've added links to some of the blogs i read
(i'll add the rest soon)
i've added my library thing with recent books i've read
(click on the little bity words -library thing- to see the rest of my library)
i've change the size of the title
(jury is still out on the color - any suggestions?)
i've changed the colors of things you wouldn't even realize
(florescent green isn't my thing but any shade of purple will do)
i've even removed a link so you can't click on it anymore
(why in the world would you want to click on the time
to link to the post you are already reading?)
i'm so excited that i've figured it out
i shouted out loud the first time it fell into place
and my family came running to see if i was okay
i started to explain but saw the glazing of the eyes
so i buried myself back in the code
"the davinci code"?
nah, i'll take html
i found myself humming as i did the laundry
i feel like i've done somthing productive
i do have brain cells left in there
after almost two years staying at home
i promise that tomorrow
i'll post about something other than the computer
but if you'll excuse me
i need to go figure out that black dot
oh, and change a color or two...

ta-da!
So...
how do you like it?
it all started
with wanting to add
a different font
(and I'm still
working on that one)
and after a day of
playing with the html code
i changed my template
the beach
blue water
ahhhh.....
thanks barb
for the help
even on your birthday
i'm amazed at what
i learned today
i still want to tweak
it a little bit
like the size of the title
(just figured that out - woohoo!)
and probably the color of the title
(what color do you think it should be? )
oh and i have to add my
library thing in again
but honestly
i'm almost cross-eyed
from this little project
and really tired
besides
i wouldn't be surprised
if my family thought
i was sucked into the computer
never to be seen alive again
so put on your sunscreen
and enjoy this view
i'll be back soon
i'm going to take a little nap
and dream of this blue water :)

library thing
Found a new web site called library thing
look at the bottom of the left side bar
ideally this will be the last five books i have read
at the moment, it isn't that
i just added all my favorites
and the way that it posts
they are all from the same series
and one from my wish list
if you click on "my library"
it will take you to my complete library
and they are tagged by subject
and of course, the wish list
just another way to share...enjoy!
